Two Berth Rigid Glamping Pod Specification
The Pod has an external size of 3.5 metres wide x 6.280 metres long x 2.855 metres high (excluding roof overhangs), providing an internal accommodation area of 4.747 metres long x 3.067 metres wide = 14.55m2. The external covered porch has a depth of 1.100 metres.
Constructed, where possible, using locally sustainably sourced materials. The main construction framework is formed using graded treated softwood, external grade ply lined and counter-battened, overlaid with multi-layer technology foil insulation, counter-battened and the walls externally clad with green oak boarding. The roof framework is overlaid with exterior grade ply lined and counter-battened, then overlaid with multi-layer technology foil insulation, counter-battened and over-fitted with Decra Oberon Roof Shingles Sheeting, colour ‘Bark’, roofing system. Internally all walls and ceiling areas are constructed/lined using 100mm sheep’s wool insulation between stud work, with visqueen membrane fitted for air tightness, overlaid with 15mm pine tongue & grooved painted boarding providing the decorative finish.
The floor covering is overlaid on 18mm tongue & grooved water boil-proof ply for durability. Floor joists are constructed using 150 x 47mm C16 treated gauged floor joists, which are overlaid with a damp-proof membrane, with 100mm rigid foil insulation cut between the floor joists. The joists are fixed onto 170 x 75mm treated timber skids, with 10 x 80mm solid steel base skids running the full length of the Pod unit, providing a solid skid for the Pod unit to sit on.
The Pods are constructed using the highest eco-level insulation available, in order to maximise heat retention and energy efficiency, to reduce heating requirements in the winter but will also remain cool in the summer. They have double-glazed roof lights, one small solid oak double-glazed window at the rear and a hardwood painted stable door, with the top leaf double-glazed.
